Artists Statement: Willow Spirit is an exploration into lamp making using paper reed and wood. It is a modern interpretation of an ancient Japanese tradition in lantern making. I owe a debt of gratitude to Stephen White who started down this paper lamp process in the late 40’s and 50’s.
