Artists Statement: The soul of a tree was an idea explored by George Nakashima. In this table I envisioned a tree at its final moments of decomposition when its last remnants of bark collapse. In a forest this tree would live on as it becomes energy for new growth and life. In this form as a table this tree will live on and be an accompaniment for life to those living around and using it.
