Tom Gorman - Joinery: How it Relates to Making Furniture
Specializing in contemporary household studio furniture: living room, dining room, bedroom, and boxes, Tom Gorman has been creating these works for 40+ years. Educated in Northern Ireland, he completed his apprenticeship there, obtaining a certificate from City and Guilds of London England, before moving to Canada.
Tom loves the creative process, he strives for originality and hopes his work says that he is an honest, skillful woodworker – not pretentious. The key for this generation to make great strides in promoting studio furniture: the encouragement of potential studio furniture makers and education of the general public, as to the benefits of high quality, unique furniture.
Come hear Tom discuss joinery, what he likes and doesn’t like, and how it all relates to making furniture.
In addition to Tom’s presentation, if you’d like to share something with members or have a question, if possible, email Ed Marchand. This is not a necessity; however, it helps with the meeting timing.
