Boat Building
Gene Tehansky, a former SAWS member, is the featured presenter for this meeting, speaking on Boat Building.
From childhood, Gene has always been interested in making, modifying and creating. While working in the field of automotive engineering, he started getting serious about woodworking. In 2019, after moving for his wife’s work, he left his engineering position to focus on the craft of making. Projects during this timeframe ranged from furniture to wooden signs. His interest in all things transportation, led him to wooden boats as a next step in this journey. In the fall of 2023, Gene completed a year long boat-building program at the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding. This endeavour taught him the fundamentals of boat building while working on a diverse set of projects. Since returning to Calgary, his focus has been on building and coaching others to build small craft. View his boat projects.
